Nuit blanche à Montréal at the Pôle Parc olympique - San Francisco-Inspired Festivities!
MONTREAL, Feb. 10, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Space for Life and the Olympic Park invite you to a highly entertaining and festive evening at the next edition of Nuit blanche à Montréal, coming up March 1st, 2014! The Pôle Parc olympique will play host to a San Francisco-inspired winter celebration with a wide variety of activities that will evoke the distinctive features of one of America's greatest cities. The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, the Biodôme, the Olympic Stadium and the Esplanade Financière Sun Life will welcome musical and dance performances, visual arts, tours, and exhibitions: festival-goers will be sure to enjoy a night of winter bliss flavoured with a touch of California!
Dance under the stars at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium
Come dance with the stars and watch your moves affect the images projected on the facade of the planetarium as part of Choreographies for Humans and Stars, a new outdoor digital exhibit! Visitors can also meet with the artists responsible for this innovative work, Mouna Andraos and Melissa Mongiat, at Public Art, a forum being held at 8:00 p.m. There will also be projected images and animations inspired by the beauty of stars: a frenetic and festive atmosphere where our DJs—Sweet Daddy Luv, Archibald Singleton, and DJ Christian Olsen—will get you off your feet and dancing to Music to the Rhythm of the Stars. Our scientific hosts will guide guests through the poetic charm of the San Francisco Sky in the planetarium's two theatres, where the digital exhibition Exo will also be presented. There will also be telescopes made available near the planetarium for an informative Starry Sky Viewing with our scientific hosts and amateur astronomers, provided the sky is clear.
The Biodôme's penguins are escaping!
Did they all spread the word? A group of penguins from the Biodôme is planning their escape—they will be spending the night in a custom-made outdoor ice house! Be sure not to miss this unique winter gathering! Also outside the Biodôme, a number of birds of prey from Quebec—including the Great Horned Owl—will be showing off their beauty and talent under the supervision of the Quebec Association for the Rehabilitation of Birds of Prey (UCROP). But while everything outdoors is running smoothly, the inhabitants of our indoor ecosystems are in dire straits! A network of animal traffickers is wreaking havoc from Montreal to San Francisco in a murder mystery that knows no borders! Hurry, we have to find the guilty culprits!
The tastes and colours of San Francisco at the Esplanade Financière Sun Life
Do you like street food? During Nuit blanche à Montréal, stop and savour a sampling of First Saturdays street food and combine delicious hot dishes with a California wine tasting, brought to you by Station In Vivo: mouth-watering comfort food, guaranteed! The Olympic Park's Winter Village will transport you to the Alcatraz penitentiary off the coast of San Francisco, where you can rub shoulders with some of its famous prisoners while ice skating to some of today's best music. Guests can also take an express tour of the Olympic Stadium, learning its rich history; from its Olympic legacy to the numerous significant events it has hosted! Discover exciting activities from one end of the Pôle Parc Olympique to the other by taking a trip on a cable car (pulled by horses!), just like you would in San Francisco! Visitors can travel between the Esplanade Financière Sun Life, the Olympic Stadium, the Biodôme, and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium.
