Award Winning Exhibitor Creates 18th Century French Elegance with a Modern Twist
BURLINGTON, ON, Jan. 27, 2014 /CNW/ - From January 23 to 26, IKEA once again treated the design community and industry insiders with the elegance of its 980 square foot booth at the 2014 Interior Design Show. Inspired by the 18th century French era, the architecture of the booth was classically influenced with wall paneling and antiques while also incorporating many modern elements. The design was judged by Ryan Martin of Croma Design Inc. who awarded the home furnishings giant once again with a Gold Booth Award.
"Each year we look to push the boundaries and inspire show-goers with what can be done with our products," says Madeleine Lowenborg-Frick, Public Relations Manager, IKEA Canada. "After last year's award winning Scandinavian modern design, we wanted to swing the creative execution 180 degrees stylistically. Putting IKEA products into this context creates a fascinating tension and proves once again that high design is achievable on a reasonable budget."
"IKEA's high-style booth made judging easy, with an exhibit beautifully balanced between drama and sophistication," says judge Ryan Martin, Principal Designer, Croma Design Inc. "Exploration of product was encouraged and play of design was inspired, all in one informative package."
The IKEA booth was divided into three spaces: le foyer, la cuisine and la toilette. The kitchen was fit for a French castle, outfitted in the newest door style, LIDINGÖ gray, an open fire place and stunning Venetian crystal chandeliers. The dressing room was enough to inspire awe in any woman's heart, with a GODMORGON high gloss white vanity, and a full wall of PAX wardrobes, all set against a gilded backdrop.
