TORONTO, Jan. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Today, serial entrepreneur and millennial, Dave Wilkin, launched Ten Thousand Coffees, a digital platform that connects students, recent grads and young professionals with industry leaders to share insights and inspire future opportunities. The Ten Thousand Coffees movement is based on the notion that great conversations begin with a cup of coffee.
"We know that today's youth have the solutions to our most important challenges, but lack the opportunity because they don't have access to the right networks. All they need is a chance to connect with the leaders of today," says Ten Thousand Coffees Founder Dave Wilkin. "We created the world's first youth movement that unlocks opportunities and benefits both Novices and Experts."
Not only will Ten Thousand Coffees help open doors for students and young professionals but some of the world's biggest organizations and most recognizable Canadian leaders have joined the movement in an effort to give back but also to learn from the next generation of leaders. Early adopters of the program include Rick Mercer, George Stroumboulopoulos, Kirstine Stewart, Bruce Croxon as well as executives from Samsung Canada, Facebook Canada, L'Oreal, TIFF and the Canadian Olympic Committee.
Additionally, McDonald's® Canada is a supporter of Ten Thousand Coffees. The company is helping foster connections by offering its more than 1,400 restaurants - the majority newly redesigned in contemporary décor - as a convenient and inviting meeting place for Novices and Experts to start great conversations over a McCafé® premium beverage.
"Creating connections between people of all ages is at the core of the McDonald's brand," says John Betts, President and CEO of McDonald's Canada. "We're excited to support Ten Thousand Coffees and encourage young Canadians and experienced professionals to learn from each other and spark new ideas."
By 2028, seventy-five per cent of the workforce will be made up of millennials.1 This is driving experienced leaders and influencers from across Canada to TenThousandCoffees.com to connect with the next generation and gain insights that will future proof their organizations.
Ten Thousand Coffees is thrilled that influential brands like McDonald's Canada, TIFF, Samsung Canada and Canadian Olympic Committee have joined the movement. We encourage more Canadian Experts to join the movement by visiting www.TenThousandCoffees.com.
