Montreal Snow Removal Operation - Snow Clearing is 52 % Complete
MONTREAL, Dec. 27, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The City of Montreal wishes to notify the public that dedicated snow removal crews have now cleared away 52 % of the snow from Montreal streets and sidewalks. The 3000 or so employees who are carrying out this large-scale operation were back to work on Thursday morning, after a 36-hour break prescribed by a provincial regulation respecting the hours of work and rest. This is the second snow clearing operation of the 2013-2014 winter season.
"We are aware that this is a time when there are more people circulating on the City's roads and sidewalks. Our teams are on the job to clear away the remnants of Montreal's last storm as quickly as possible. Unless we get another significant snowfall, snow removal should be complete by the beginning of next week," stated Anie Samson, City of Montreal Executive Committee Vice-President and member responsible for public safety and services for citizens.
In order for snow removal operations to run smoothly, Montreal citizens are urged to park their car properly, to respect signage and to opt for public transportation whenever possible. As some 2200 vehicles are currently circulating on Montreal streets, the City wishes to remind the public to take extra care around snow removal equipment.
