/R E P E A T -- Make Peace Your New Year's Resolution!/
MONTREAL, Dec. 18, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - A coalition of national and international organizations has launched an innovative, home-grown, global initiative to mark January 1st, 2014, World Day of Peace, by engaging citizens from around the world in an online vigil for the cause of peace.
At the dawn of the new year, the 24 Hours for World Peace initiative will offer people from every race, nationality, and religion, an opportunity and practical way to stimulate their thinking, to nourish their hope, and to take action for peace.
With the help of modern technology this project will bring together and unite a true virtual community of people interested in building peace in our world.
Participants may register free online at our web site (www.24hoursforworldpeace.org) to receive inspirational e-mail messages, testimonials, pictures or videos throughout the day on January 1st. Participants are also invited to upload their own messages and to cast their vote for the first 2014 Public Choice Prize for Peace, a popular version of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Two internationally known personalities have accepted to be the spokespeople for this first 24 Hours for World Peace event: Jean Vanier, founder of L'Arche, the world-wide network of communities centered upon people with intellectual disabilities, and Ruth Patterson, a pioneer and promoter of reconciliation in Northern Ireland.
It's a rendez-vous…for peace!
