Companies shortlisted for Casey House replacement project

TORONTO, Dec. 23, 2013 /CNW/ - Infrastructure Ontario and Casey House have shortlisted six companies to build and finance the Casey House facility replacement project, which will improve care and support services for those living with HIV/AIDS.

Based on a request for qualifications process that began in August 2013, the following companies were shortlisted:

  • Bird Capital Limited Partnership
  • Eastern Construction Company Limited
  • EllisDon Capital Inc.
  • Graham Construction and Engineering LP & Harbridge & Cross Limited, a Joint Venture
  • PCL Constructors Canada Inc.
  • WCC Construction Canada, ULC o/a Walsh Canada

The replacement project will provide more efficient, seamless care by consolidating all programs and services under one roof. It involves renovating an existing heritage property at 571 Jarvis St. and incorporating a new 48,000-square-foot facility that will be built at 119 Isabella St. The new facility will feature:

  • 14 in-patient beds, including two respite beds
  • office space for the home care programs
  • therapy rooms and community space for day health programs
  • new space for administrative and support services, including Casey House Foundation
  • underground parking for 15 vehicles

The companies will be invited to respond to a request for proposals, expected to be issued in early 2014.

Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with Casey House to redevelop the facility.

Casey House was Canada's first stand-alone treatment facility for people with HIV/AIDS when it opened in 1988. It is a specialty HIV/AIDS care facility that also offers community programming, including home care and outreach programs.
