Nanette Workman and Martin Deschamps Headline Benefit Concert in Support of Our House Project
ORMSTOWN, QC, Oct. 17, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - A benefit concert headlined by Nanette Workman with special guest Martin Deschamps, and appearances by the Durham County Poets and The Cranes, will raise money to build a home for multiple families struggling to find affordable housing. The concert takes place at the Expo Ormstown Arena on October 25, 2013 at 7:30 pm.
The Our House Project is a collaborative effort of the New Frontiers School Board (NFSB), the Town of Ormstown, Eco-Habitation Quebec, and Habitat for Humanity. Professionals, teachers and students will rally together to build an eco-friendly, LEED-Certified home and give two special families a new lease on life.
A resident of Ormstown, Quebec, Nanette Workman has collaborated with such Artists as the Rolling Stones, Elton John and John Lennon. Her latest album release entitled 'Just Gettin' Started' is the 21st of her career and delivers 13 electrifying tracks of blues-tinged southern rock. "Just Gettin' Started is the perfect metaphor for the Our House Project. It deals with the themes of freedom and Independence; there's no greater freedom then a family knowing they have a warm house to come home to," Nanette Workman. Martin Deschamps, a Quebec native and lead singer of Offenbach, will join his fellow artists in a rock fest for over 3,000 attendees.
Habitat's mission to mobilize volunteers to build affordable housing as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty moved everyone to rally together for the special build. "As a school board, we're only as strong as the communities in which we work and live. Our mission is to educate youth and adults; our vision is to transform the lives of people for the better," Bonnie Mitchell, Director of Continuing Education at NFSB.
Tickets are $15 for general admission or $50 for VIP access and can be purchased in advance by calling 450-829-2396. Limited tickets will be on sale at the event. For more information on the Benefit Concert or the Our House Project visit www.nfsb.me/habitat.
