Panel Decisions on Apprenticeship Ratio Reviews
TORONTO, Sept. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Ontario College of Trades (the
College) is committed to being open and transparent about critical
decisions that affect its stakeholders and future members.
Following a call for written submissions and public oral hearings, an independent Review Panel has released a decision on the journeyperson to apprentice ratio for the general carpenter trade.
The Review Panel recommended a reduction to the ratio, allowing for more apprentices. For more details on specifics of the decision, please see the full decision in the link below.
This was the final Panel Decision for the 2012-2013 round of ratio reviews. The College has a mandate to conduct ratio reviews every four years, with the next round of ratio reviews beginning in 2016.
There are 33 trades with ratios in Ontario. Due to the College's new process for ratio reviews, decisions about ratios were made with input from skilled tradespeople and interested stakeholders in an open and transparent way.
Copies of written submissions by stakeholders, reports by the Review
Panels and a summary of Ratio Review Decisions are available online at:
