The Canadian Public Relations Society honours Daniel Tisch and Jean Valin with the 2013 Award of Attainment
OTTAWA-GATINEAU, June 20, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) recognized Daniel Tisch APR, FCPRS and Jean Valin APR, FCPRS LM with the 2013 CPRS Award of Attainment during the 2013 CPRS National Awards Gala on June 11. Tisch and Valin were acknowledged for outstanding achievement and service in the public relations industry including their work with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management and its Melbourne Mandate.
"Winning this award for a co-creation involving more than one thousand public relations professionals from around the world is a great honour. The Melbourne Mandate was a terrific opportunity to create a powerful global advocacy platform. Working with Dan Tisch on this was a privilege; we make a great team together," said Valin.
The CPRS Award of Attainment is presented to CPRS members whose personal activities and leadership have gone beyond the call of duty. The work conducted must also have contributed to the status and acceptance of the public relations function as a whole.
"It's been a privilege to lead the Global Alliance for the last two years, and to join professionals and academics from around the world in building a global consensus on the value of communication to organizations - and to society," said Tisch, President of Argyle Communications and Chair of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management. "Thinking of our professional journey calls to mind an African proverb: if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together."
The two worked together to produce a new mandate statement with regards to the role and value of public relations within communicative organizations, and in society at large. This work was done through a transparent process which involved extensive research and consultation. The Melbourne Mandate earned the approval of delegates after an open session during the World Public Relations Forum in November 2012.
The Award of Attainment was one of several noteworthy awards presented at this year's gala. The Major Awards recognize exceptional involvement in the public relations profession and candidates are nominated by peers. Daniel Tisch and his team at Argyle Communications also received the CPRS Don Rennie Memorial Award for excellence in government communications.
