Andrew Ranger teams up with Ray Courtemanche Jr. in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, with support from La Cité de Mirabel Inc.
The experienced Roxton Pond (QC) driver will race in two Quebec rounds of the 2013 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCaTS), at ICAR on July 7 and at Trois-Rivières on August 11, as a teammate to Ray Courtemanche Jr, aboard a second car prepared by Jacombs Racing. The project is backed La Cité de Mirabel Inc.
MONTREAL, April 1, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Andrew Ranger won the 2012 NCaTS races at both tracks. He will drive at both events this year in the same car, updated and refined by Jacombs Racing for the occasion. Dave Jacombs has been Andrew's Crew Chief since his NCaTS debut in 2006. Together, they have accumulated 16 wins, won NCaTS Championships in 2007 and 2009, placed third in season points in 2012, as well as achieved multiple wins and podium finishes over the years. In fact, Andrew has won the Trois-Rivieres NCaTS race four times: 2008, 2009 and 2010, as well as 2012.
Ranger 2013 schedule includes 15 NASCAR US-based events in 2013 (Nationwide, K&N Pro East and West, and ARCA), as well as the two NCaTS races in Canada, flying La Cité de Mirabel Inc. colours. A schedule conflict will prevent Andrew from taking part in the third NCaTS visit to Quebec this year, the July 27 event at l'Autodrome St-Eustache.
Andrew is looking forward to racing close to home. "I love both tracks and I know that I will be aboard my race-winning No. 27 car, as part of a winning team. Naturally, I will also work with Ray Jr. to help bring him closer to the lead pack. Backing from La Cité de Mirabel Inc. helped Ray Jr. and Dave build a strong organization, one that will contribute to the success of both events and help our business partner achieve his business goals."
Mr. Daniel Proulx, one of the principals at La Cité de Mirabel Inc., saw an opportunity for this major project to align itself with the two popular Québec-based events and build up the project's image. "We are glad to welcome Andrew into our organization. La Cité de Mirabel Inc., an innovating concept in real-estate development, is thrilled to be associated with another Canadian leader, the Nascar Canadian Tire Series. With both highly visible car in each race, and Andrew's No. 27 at the front of the pack, I am certain that our image will stand out, just like our project does in the market. As a developer, our aim is excellence, and we have created an organization that shares that commitment."
Both races are also important for Ray Jr. and his No. 29 racer. "Andrew's skills and experience will certainly raise our game, for the team as well as for me as a driver. Understanding the car's behaviour and communicating it to the team are keys to our learning process as the season progresses, and we will all improve together. Dave and Andrew have already been there and we could not have found better teachers."
After several practice days, the 2013 NCaTS season will start on May 19 at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the super-quick road course situated North of Bowmanville, about 100km East of Toronto.
