Good news for Parc Jean-Drapeau cyclists - South Shore - Parc Jean-Drapeau bike link to open for a longer time span in 2013
MONTREAL, March 12, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The 220,000 cyclists who travel on the bike link between the South Shore (Saint-Lambert) and Parc Jean-Drapeau will be able to use it for an additional month during the 2013 season. The bike path and ice bridge, located west of the Champlain Bridge between Île des Soeurs and seaway, will be open for users every day from April 1 to November 15, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The bike link's previous dates of operation were from April 15 to October 31.
"We're seeing mild weather arriving earlier in the spring and staying mild later in the fall, and we need to take advantage of this fact and use it to people's benefit," said Daniel Blier, the Executive Director of Parc Jean-Drapeau. "Since Parc Jean-Drapeau manages the cycling path between the park and the South Shore, we received the approval of the other 'inter-rives' committee members to extend the scheduled time frame as of this spring. Bike-link users will be pleased to learn the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve cycling path is also going to be cleaned and set up and open as of April 1, 2013."
The 'inter-rives' committee is comprised of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau, the cities of Longueuil, Saint- Lambert and Brossard and the MRC Roussillon, which includes the municipalities of Candiac, La Prairie, Saint-Constant, Delson and Sainte-Catherine.
The mission of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau is to manage, administrate, develop, protect and animate Parc Jean-Drapeau. For further details about the Parc's activities, please go to the following website: www.parcjeandrapeau.com.
