TVO's Lisa de Wilde awarded Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal
TORONTO, March 4, 2013 /CNW/ - Lisa de Wilde, Chief Executive Officer of TVO, was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her support and dedication to scientific literacy. Created to honour the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's accession to the Throne, the medals recognize outstanding Canadians for contributions they have made to their communities and to the country.
Presented at a ceremony at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo on February 22, the award recognized Lisa's leadership in engaging the public and advancing education, science and citizenry.
Since 2009, TVO has been the Perimeter Institute's official media partner for a number of high-profile public outreach activities including the Quantum to Cosmos Festival in 2009, Stephen Hawking at the Perimeter Institute in 2010, and the Equinox Summit: Energy 2030 in 2011. And TVOKids and TVOParents.com were part of the Physica Phantastica science exhibit during the grand opening of the Perimeter Institute's Stephen Hawking Centre in 2011. In September, TVO will partner with the Perimeter Institute for the Equinox Summit: Learning 2030.
