Canada-wide Class Action Litigation Regarding Transvaginal Mesh Victims
CALGARY, Feb. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - Merchant Law Group LLP announced today expanding Canadian class action litigation regarding Transvaginal Mesh Products.
"Yesterday, a USA Transvaginal Mesh victim was awarded US$3.35 million for the individual pain and suffering she endured resulting from a Transvaginal Mesh implant. This very significant jury award to Ms. Gross is a clear demonstration that compensation is due to women throughout Canada and the United States who have been victimized by defective Transvaginal Mesh implants. The Canadian class action lawsuits assert that the manufacturers have acted with recklessly disregard for the safety of the women receiving Transvaginal Mesh implants, and failed to respond to the growing body of evidence that mesh implants deliver little benefit over traditional non-mesh surgical options" said Tony Merchant, Q.C., a leading Canadian class action lawyer.
Thousands of Canadian women have suffered due to defective Transvaginal Mesh implants. Health Canada first licensed these products for sale and use in Canada on August 19, 1998. Complications arising from the mesh implants include but are not limited to: erosion in the vagina and urethra, pain, infection, perforations, including perforations in the bowel and bladder, pain during sexual intercourse, injuries to adjacent organs and blood vessels. In some cases, multiple surgical procedures to remove the mesh are necessary.
Merchant Law Group has launched class action lawsuits in various provinces on behalf of all Canadian women who have been injured by defective Transvaginal Mesh implants.
