100% of High Liner wild caught products to be certified as sustainable in 2013
LUNENBURG, NS, Feb. 14, 2013 /CNW/ - 2013 promises to be a big year for Canada's leading seafood company, High Liner Foods.
High Liner is committed to sourcing 100% of its wild caught seafood from certified sustainable or responsible fisheries and 100% of its aquaculture seafood from certified sustainable or responsible sources by the end of 2013.
As of today, 60% of wild caught High Liner products by sales volume are already certified by the world's leading certification organization for wild caught seafood, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). These products feature the MSC ecolabel. In the coming months, consumers will see the MSC ecolabel on more and more High Liner products.

The introduction of MSC-certified products follows the landmark partnership between High Liner and MSC in May 2012 to support the mutual goal of sustainable fisheries.

High Liner has been actively engaged in Fishery Improvement Projects for Russian Pollock, Russian Wild Salmon and North Atlantic Cod in the waters off southern Newfoundland. These projects help fisheries become sustainable and achieve MSC certification.
