Coworkers give back to the community through fundraising efforts
ETOBICOKE, ON, Jan. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - Through the efforts of its coworkers' annual fundraiser, CDW Canada, a leading provider of technology solutions for Canadian organizations in the public and private sectors, today announced it has donated more than $23,000 to Children's Miracle Network in support of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. CDW Canada coworkers also donated new toys as part of an annual holiday toy drive. These toys, and more than 300 CDW teddy bears, were given to children in the hospital's emergency room on Christmas day.
In an award presentation last week, CDW Canada presented SickKids with a cheque for its monetary donation, which will help support the highest priority needs at the hospital. In addition, toys that were collected from CDW Canada's annual toy drive were delivered to the hospital before the holidays for SickKids' patients to enjoy.
As part of an annual holiday tradition, CDW gives teddy bears to its coworkers with young children as a special keepsake and gift at the end of each year. CDW Canada coworkers decided to help spread the holiday cheer by this year donating 300 of those bears to SickKids' patients.
"SickKids has always been a charity close to our hearts, and this year we wanted to do something special to brighten the lives of children who were away from loved ones and needed to be in hospital over the holidays," said Mary Ann Yule, Vice President and General Manager, CDW Canada. "We're so proud of our coworkers for their involvement and commitment to making this year's fundraiser one of our most successful yet."
"CDW Canada's commitment to supporting the critical and life-saving work this hospital undertakes every day is nothing less than tremendous," said Adrian Horwood, Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, SickKids Foundation. "Improving the health and well-being of children is one of the most powerful ways to improve society."
