NHLPA endorses Concussion Continuing Education Program for Family Physicians: When Medicine and Sport Meet Head On
TORONTO, Jan. 29, 2013 /CNW/ - mdBriefCase Inc, the leading provider of free online Continuing Medical Education (CME) for Canadian healthcare professionals, is pleased to announce the NHLPA endorsement of a Continuing Medical Education program titled "Sports-Related Concussions: When Medicine and Sport Meet Head On".
The NHLPA would like to commend mdBriefCase and the developers of the concussion program (Drs. Tator and Clarfield) for creating and distributing an interactive CME program that will aid front-line physicians in the recognition and management of patients with concussion.
The program was developed by Dr Charles Tator, Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Toronto and Founder of ThinkFirst Canada, and Dr Michael Clarfield, Director of Sports Medicine Specialists in Toronto and former Head Team Physician of the Toronto Maple Leafs (1989-2004). With already 2,600+ participants, the program provides Canadian healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge to properly recognize and counsel patients with a suspected concussion.
Danny Weill, Vice President of mdBriefCase explains, "Elite athletes like Sidney Crosby and Eric Lindros bring concussions to the forefront of not just medical health news, but mainstream media as well. As an avid hockey fan, I am particularly interested in this program and am proud to share this highly relevant learning opportunity with our 77,000 healthcare professional members."
