184,691 visitors at the 2013 Montreal International Auto Show: A Good Warm Kick-start for the Auto Industry!
MONTREAL, Jan. 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The 45th Edition of the Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) has officially closed its doors after welcoming 184,691 visitors, between January 18 and 27, 2013, registering a drop of 10.3% compared to 2012.
MIAS President, Mr. Jacques Tardif, is proud of the show and mentioned that despite the drop in numbers, due to the extreme cold temperatures experienced during the week, MIAS continues to be a must-see event in Montreal, and a one-stop shop destination for all new car enthusiasts. He added that the Auto Show offered the best of the best for its 45th edition and we noted a high quality of attendees.
Electric and Hybrid test drives were highly popular amongst the attendees as 1691 test drives were held during the 10 days. This activity and its positive response demonstrate once again that Quebecers are open to adopt these new technologies. MIAS and CAA-Québec organized this activity in collaboration with the Electric Circuit.
Thousands of visitors were taken by discovery and nostalgia at the Centennial Avenue feature presented by Auto Hebdo. 100 years of history was represented through 10 iconic cars.
One world and one North American debut were among the 50 premieres unveiled during press day. Also, many prototypes and concept vehicles were presented, positioning the show as real innovation platform for the Quebec auto industry.
The Auto Show, Héma-Québec and CTV Montreal were proud to be associated for the 29th annual blood drive. 675 generous blood donors stopped by to give their precious gift of life. We wish to extend our deepest thanks to all donors and to everyone who contributed to the phenomenal success of this year's blood drive. Together, we help save lives!
Furthermore, the 9th Charity Preview evening was a record breaking event. The spokesperson, Mr. Rémi-Pierre Paquin welcomed 4,126 guests enjoying the Auto Show's VIP access. The event raised $620,766 to benefit five worthy causes within the Greater Montreal's medical community: Fondation du CHUM, Montréal Sacré-Coeur Hospital Foundation, Pierre-Boucher Hospital Foundation, Santa Cabrini Hospital Foundation and St. Mary's Hospital Foundation. Since it premiered back in January of 2005, the event has raised more than $3.4 million for various foundations of the Greater Montreal's health care community; an achievement of which the automotive industry is extremely proud!
