REGINA, Jan. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, attended a roundtable meeting today with members of Branch 001 of the Royal Canadian Legion. The event was part of his continued efforts to consult with Veterans and their families to ensure the Government is meeting their needs.

"I have gained a lot of valuable information from my roundtable with the Royal Canadian Legion, and I am sincerely grateful to everyone who took the time to meet with me to talk about issues that are important to our Veterans," said Minister Blaney. "I am pleased to have had the chance to hear first-hand the experiences and suggestions of the Legion, which has a proud history of supporting the men and women who have served our country."

Over the past year, Minister Blaney has announced several service improvements as part of his Cutting Red Tape initiative, which is primarily focused on making the policies and programs at Veterans Affairs Canada less complicated and its services easier to access.

Minister Blaney attended several similar roundtable meetings this past year and will continue to hold other roundtable meetings with various Veterans' groups to seek feedback on the programs and services available to Veterans.

"It is a pleasure to have Minister Blaney with us to discuss face-to-face the issues that are of importance to Veterans," said Brent Wignes, Provincial President of the Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Legion.
