10th Guignolée du Dr Julien: 1 050 000 $ to Give Back Hope to Vulnerable Children

MONTREAL, Jan. 19, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The 10th Guignolée du Dr Julien ended on a high note with more than 1 050 000 $ raised, making the 2012 edition the most successful ever. Donations in kind (books, toys, sport equipment, etc.), which must be added to this total, brought joy to more than a 1 000 families these Holidays. The Fondation du Dr Julien is very pleased with these record-breaking results, especially considering that they will help vulnerable children and families benefit from services tailored to their specific needs, thanks to the generous public support.

"Our community social pediatrics teams are working very hard to build a practice to help impoverished children and families excluded from mainstream society and make them experience small wins. I know that this renewed popular support will give hope to our teams and as well as to our families and kids for the coming year. This unprecedented success is a great show of trust and we are very grateful. I now wish that more and more people mobilize to improve the well-being of children in our communities. It is the only way that we will be able to assist the 30 % of vulnerable children in Quebec", declares Dr. Gilles Julien, founder and president of the Fondation du Dr Julien.

The Fondation du Dr Julien wishes to thank the 500 volunteers who have participated in the 10th Guignolée du Dr Julien, as well as its partners, both event spokespersons, Ève Christian and Christian Bégin, and finally the whole "Samedi et Rien d'Autre" team, a radio show hosted by Joël Le Bigot and broadcasted live from the Guignolée on Radio-Canada's Première chaîne.

The Guignolée du Dr Julien raised 974 000 $ in 2011.
