TORONTO, Dec. 24, 2012 /CNW/ - It's turning out to be a magical holiday season for Thornhill resident Susan Flam. The homemaker and fundraiser discovered during a stop to buy some groceries, that she is the winner of the $50 million LOTTO MAX jackpot prize from the December 21, 2012 draw.

Flam, in her mid-60s, made the trip to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto today to claim her prize with her husband and close friends. Although she is still shocked over the win, she is sure about how this is going to change many lives.

"For me, this is the best pay it forward I could ask for. This is not going to change my life - it's what I can do for others that will make me happy!" Flam explained.

The mother of two and grandmother of five was expecting a quiet holiday season when she checked her LOTTO MAX ticket on Saturday.

"We were heading up north for a holiday visit and stopped to get some supplies. We didn't expect anything like this to happen. When we discovered we had won $50 million, I couldn't breathe and my husband couldn't speak. It still hasn't sunk in," said Flam.

She stressed that even with this large windfall, it's all about health and happiness.

"Money isn't important. This is a very wonderful gift we've been given, but I'm not an extravagant person. As long as I know everyone is well, that's what matters to me!" she said.

This winning ticket from the December 21, 2012 draw is the sixth winning LOTTO MAX jackpot ticket in Ontario in 2012.

Since its launch in September 2009, Ontario LOTTO MAX players have won over $1.5 billion in prizes, including 26 jackpot wins and 155 winning MAXMILLIONS tickets from all across the province.

The winning ticket was purchased at Gateway Newstands at Fairview Mall in Toronto.
