NIAGARA FALLS, ON, Nov. 23, 2012 /CNW/ - Great Wolf Lodge has been awarded the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) Award for Excellence in Human Resources and was also a finalist for the Air Canada Business of the Year Award.

The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) hosted the annual 2012 Canadian Tourism Awards, presented by The Toronto Star and VISA Canada.  The awards were presented at a gala dinner ceremony at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec on Tuesday November 20, 2012.

The Canadian Tourism Awards are presented annually by TIAC to recognize success, leadership and innovation in Canada's tourism industry.  Recipients are comprised of people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond in offering a superior tourism experience to travellers in Canada.  The Canadian Tourism Awards have become the standard of excellence for businesses and organizations in the travel industry, showcasing the nation's best tourism products, services and experiences.

"This is a tremendous honour for our Lodge and is no small feat.  Our HR practices define our culture and the success of our business.  This recognition reflects the passion and commitment of a large team of people" said Keith Simmonds, General Manager.  The award was accepted by Mr. Simmonds and Anne Marie Malleau, Director of Human Resources, both of whom have been with the Lodge since the property opened in 2006.

This has been a successful award year for Great Wolf Lodge.  In October, the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) acknowledged the Lodge with the TIAO Employee Attraction & Retention award.  Great Wolf Lodge also received a nomination for the TIAO Tourism Innovator of the Year award for introducing the live action adventure game MagiQuest to the resort.
