QUEBEC CITY, Nov. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, was at Résidence Le Saint-Patrick this morning where he breakfasted and talked with the Veterans who live there. For the Minister's visit, the residents held a short remembrance ceremony to mark Veterans' Week.

"It's an honour for me to salute the courage and dedication shown by our Canadian Veterans," said Minister Blaney. "The men and women who have served our country in times of war and peace deserve our respect, and their great contributions and achievements need to be remembered."

"The Veterans I met helped to shape today's Canada; it is our duty to take the time to thank them," stated Minister Blaney when he spoke to the Veterans who attended the breakfast.

Each year, from November 5 to 11, Canadians join together to celebrate Veterans' Week by participating in various activities in their communities, or by sharing their thoughts of remembrance online. There are countless ways to show that you remember and honour Veterans. Taking the time to remember can be as simple as attending a local ceremony or wearing a poppy.
