A historic Permit Presentation: 275 new CPAs admitted to the accounting profession

MONTREAL, Nov. 9, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Ordre des CPA du Québec reached an important milestone on November 3, 2012, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, as it hosted the first major CPA Permit Presentation since the unification of the three accounting orders in May 2012. It was with great pride that the Order officially welcomed 275 of the 672 new CPAs admitted to the profession last spring. Parents and friends were in attendance to honour the achievement of these exceptional professionals.

Making history
"You are privileged to be entering the Quebec accounting profession at a time when it is making history and acting as a forerunner in Canada." said the Chair of the Order Stephan Robitaille, FCPA, FCGA, to the new CPAs. "Since the unification of the accounting profession, we can pride ourselves on being the third largest professional order in Quebec. Our new CPAs are perfect examples of the drive and quality of the profession's next generation!" said Mr. Robitaille.

Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, President and CEO of the Order, added, "We are happy to welcome 275 new ambassadors of the profession. They are young, ambitious and destined for a promising future. Without a doubt, their exemplary determination will enable them to reach great heights. I am glad to see that the Order's close collaboration with its university partners, and with companies and accounting firms is paying off so well."

During this prestigious ceremony hosted by Marie-Claude Savard, Serge Cardin, CPA, CGA, the MNA for Sherbrooke, was on hand to welcome the new chartered professional accountants.
