Illuminite, presented by Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens, kicks-off the holiday season at Yonge-Dundas Square
Downtown Yonge's annual lighting ceremony dazzles with 52,000 LED lights
TORONTO, Nov. 8, 2012 /CNW/ - This Saturday night, officially kick-off the holiday season in Downtown Yonge at the annual tree-lighting event, Illuminite. In addition to the lighting of the spectacular 40-foot holiday tree (covered with 52,000 LED lights), the free Winter Magic event also features a brilliant fire and pyrotechnics routine from renowned acrobatic act, Circus Orange, and a musical performance by show choir, SPLASH, from the Etobicoke School of the Arts.
Hosted by the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area and presented by Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens, Illuminite also launches a series of festive and eye-catching lighting installations throughout the downtown core. The three LED polar bear installations, also at Yonge-Dundas Square, delight adults and children alike, while the classic sleigh and reindeer display at the College Park median is a favourite photo opportunity. Visit Downtown Yonge at 6 p.m. on November 10th to feel the magic!
