Luxury Development THERIVER Commemorates Start of Construction with Sod-Turning Ceremony and Art Unveiling
Record-breaking development officially begins construction of luxury condominiums in Mission
CALGARY, Oct. 23, 2012 /CNW/ - THERIVER, Calgary's luxury residential development, welcomed city dignitaries and special guests for an exclusive ground-breaking ceremony today at its construction site, located at 135 26th Avenue S.W.
The official sod-turning marked the next phase of development for the project, which has surpassed historic condominium sales records, including the sale of its $8.99 million, 5,626 square foot penthouse. Chris Bourassa, Chief Operating Officer of 26th Avenue River Investment Inc., joined Alderman John Mar onsite to participate in the ground breaking celebrations.
"This is a momentous occasion for THERIVER and the community of Mission," said Chris Bourassa. "Breaking ground highlights the start of construction on what will become Calgary's most recognizable landmark."
The ceremony also marked the beginning of a meaningful partnership between THERIVER and one of the city's leading community Arts programs. In collaboration with Antyx Community Arts, THERIVER will launch a four phase program that creates opportunities for youth to become more engaged in their community and experience increased community connection. Phase One, entitled "Fall", presents the work of students from two Mission area high schools (St. Mary's and Western Canada High School).
"We're pleased to be partnering with THERIVER and The Ledcor Group of Companies as they move forward with the next phase of development," said Amber Alexander, Community Engagement Coordinator, Antyx Community Arts. "THERIVER has provided us with a unique opportunity to support the artistic endeavors of local youth and to celebrate the beauty of the neighbourhood as captured by young artists."
THERIVER also broke news of the recent sale of a 5,260 square foot penthouse level suite. The unit, which has sold for $7.59 million (equating to approximately $1,443/square foot), is the third category defining penthouse suite sold at THERIVER (with a total of four penthouse suites available).
Construction is currently underway with shoring and excavation taking place to facilitate building foundation and underground parking. Ranging from $1.2 to $8.99 million, THERIVER offers 38 luxury estate condominium residences, now with limited availability. Construction is scheduled to be complete in Spring 2015.
