Sandvine secures $2-million follow on order in Africa
Prepaid billing a top use case for mobile operators in Middle East and Africa
WATERLOO, ON, Oct. 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Sandvine, (TSX: SVC) (AIM: SAND) a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, today announced that it has received a $2-million follow-on order in Network Policy Control products from a 3G mobile operator in Africa. This customer purchased Sandvine's Policy Traffic Switch, Network Analytics, Usage Management and Fairshare Traffic Management products. This operator is a subsidiary of a multinational telecommunications organization and has been a Sandvine customer since 2009.
Sandvine's Internet Phenomena indicates that African smartphone penetration has grown to 20 percent across the continent and Facebook and YouTube account for more than 10 percent of mobile data usage. Mobile operators are facing a growing challenge to provide a consistent experience and roll out services fast enough to satisfy the appetite of their new data subscribers. Sandvine's Usage Management 4.2 product enables new services for both pre-paid and post-paid data, and is built to plug-and-play with 3GPP standards, providing reduced lag between capital spend and service revenue.
"While service creation is a valuable tool for emerging mobile markets, we also offer the broadest suite of Network Policy Control applications" said Tom Donnelly, COO, Sandvine. "We help operators strike a balance between adding capacity and making their networks more efficient to provide a consistent quality of experience for their customers. We also offer reliable and accurate business intelligence to support C-level decisions for future network buildouts and new service planning."
Sandvine's Network Policy Control solutions have been deployed in over 200 fixed and mobile communication service provider networks worldwide.
