Quebec's very first depolluting roof from Toitures R@9
MONTREAL, Oct. 15, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Toitures R@9 launches Quebec's very first depolluting roof membrane — a roof membrane that helps to eliminate nitrous oxides (NOx) from the atmosphere. The company is proud to be the first to do its part for the environment with the help of this innovative depolluting membrane.
The production of NOx (toxic and irritating gases emitted mainly by motor vehicles and whose warming potential is 310 times than CO2) increases global warming of the planet by increasing the greenhouse effect. With the help of depolluting Noxite®-treated granules, the membrane transforms toxic NOx molecules into harmless nitrate salt throughout the lifetime of the membrane. In Quebec, 40% of greenhouse gas emissions come from road transport (source: Équiterre). A 15,000 m2 roof will eliminate annually the equivalent of NOx emitted by 60 vehicles driving over 20,000 km.
Toitures R@9 — an environmentally responsible company and Québec's official manufacturing agent of the Siplast Nox-Activ depolluting membrane — is also happy to introduce a wide range of products and services that reduce the volume of landfill materials produced by reroofing projects.
A STELLAR INNOVATOR FROM QUEBEC'S ROOFING INDUSTRY
With 30 years on the frontlines, industry veteran Denis Faucher was one of the principle actors involved in the installation of Québec first extensive green roof. A seasoned designer and an accomplished innovator, Faucher is known as one of the stars of the roofing industry and his contributions to the industry are countless, be it as invited speaker or specialized consultant, just to name a few.
Last August, in an effort to tackle our pressing environmental issues, Denis Faucher founded Toitures R@9, a company specializing in the cleaning and disinfection of asphalt shingles and roof membrane contaminated by blue-green algae, as well as in the drying of thermal insulation and the monitoring of rooftops (computer-assisted maintenance).
According to Faucher, a sustainable roof is one "designed, built, maintained and rehabilitated with tremendous respect for the use of natural resources and for the preservation of the environment". True to this vision, Toitures R@9 became earlier this month the province's manufacturing agent of the depolluting membrane after signing an agreement with the Danish corporation Siplast-ICOPAL (touting a sales figure of 1 billion Euros and 3,600 employees worldwide).
A BREAKTHROUGH CELEBRATED BY QUEBEC ENVIRONMENTALISTS
The media, environmental groups and specialists from the roofing industry are invited to attend the launch of this innovation in environmental sustainability. The launch will take place at 3pm on Monday, October 15th at La Maison du développement durable (50 St-Catherine West, suite 340).
Present at this event will be important personalities from the province's environmental scene, namely Scott McKay, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment, Wildlife and Parks, for wildlife and parks, Claude Bisson architect expert seal, Mario Petrone, environmentalist architect and singer, songwriter and performer Francesca Gagnon — the voice of Cirque du Soleil's Alegria — who will offer a rendition of Luc Plamondon's song L'Hymne à la beauté du monde (Hymn in praise of the beauty of our world).
