The CBC We Want Town Hall

KINGSTON, ON, Oct. 10, 2012 /CNW/ - Friends of Canadian Broadcasting and CFRC Radio, will convene The CBC We Want, a town hall meeting in Kingston tomorrow evening.

What:  An evening of expert discussion, audience participation and musical entertainment

When:  7 pm to 9 pm, Thursday, October 11

Where:   Renaissance Event Venue 285 Queen Street East, Kingston

Who:  The town hall will be moderated by Eric Friesen: Writer, broadcaster, speaker, and former on-air   host and executive, CBC and NPR

  Among the panelists:

  Kristiana Clemens: Operations Director, CFRC Radio, Queen's University
  John Meisel, CC: Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Queen's University; former Chair of the CRTC
  Harold Redekopp: Former head of CBC Television, CBC Radio, and CBC Regional Broadcasting
  Merilyn Simonds: Artistic Director, Kingston WritersFest; Chair, Writers Union of Canada

Why:  For the first time this century, Canadians will have an opportunity to weigh in on the future direction of the CBC when the national public broadcaster's licences are reviewed starting November 19th.

The CBC We Want town hall in Kingston is one of a series sponsored by the watchdog group Friends of Canadian Broadcasting.  Friends is an independent watchdog for Canadian programming and is not affiliated with any broadcaster or political party.
