Planning, Design and Compliance Team Selected for Peel Memorial Hospital Redevelopment
BRAMPTON, ON, Oct. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - Cannon Design + Montgomery Sisam have been selected as the planning, design and compliance team for the redevelopment of the former Peel Memorial Hospital.
The Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness will provide residents of the Central West Local Health Integration Network with specialized, patient-centred care in a modern facility. It will also serve as a model for community partnerships, offering more choices for patients, increased access to high quality services and innovative models of care.
Main areas of services will include:
- urgent care and day surgeries
- diagnostic services, including CT and bone density scans
- women's and children's wellness programs
- mental health and addictions programs
- seniors' wellness and family health
- preventative care for chronic conditions such as diabetes and asthma
The planning, design and compliance team will establish the guidelines and performance requirements the successful building team must meet when preparing their designs for the new Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness. The team will also monitor construction progress and provide coordination and oversight services throughout the course of the project.
Once the planning, design and compliance work is completed, a request for qualifications will be issued for a company to design, build, finance, and maintain the new hospital using Infrastructure Ontario's Alternative Financing and Procurement model. Under this model, risks associated with the design, construction, financing and maintenance of complex hospital projects are transferred to the private sector.
Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care are working with William Osler Health System to develop the new Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, which will be publicly owned and publicly controlled.
