Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure raises over $30M for breast cancer research, education and advocacy
TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2012 /CNW/ - In communities from coast to coast, 170,000 Canadians raised over $30 million today in the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. Funds raised allow the Foundation to continue investing in groundbreaking breast cancer research while supporting and advocating for the breast cancer community. In 2012, with donor support, the Foundation invested over $26.5 million in vital research and community health grants that have led progress in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care.
"The outstanding dedication of our participants, volunteers and sponsors in today's event demonstrates an unwavering commitment to Canadians affected by breast cancer. We wish to commend all of supporters as well as the students, faculty and alumni who joined us in the Post Secondary Challenge for their generosity and passion for the breast cancer cause. Together, with the funds raised, we are making significant and meaningful steps towards our vision of creating a future without breast cancer," says Deborah Dubenofsky, Chair of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation National Board.
In 2012, for the 16th year, CIBC was the title sponsor of the CIBC Run for the Cure. Team CIBC included 13,000 participants nationally whose efforts continue to show true commitment, through countless volunteer hours, team fundraising and support on Run day.
"Our thanks to all of the participants, the volunteers and the donors, whose contributions are helping to create a future without breast cancer. Seeing so many dedicated people come together for the breast cancer cause makes us very proud to be the title sponsor of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure," says Christina Kramer, Executive Vice-President, CIBC.
Other national sponsors include New Balance Canada, East Side Mario's, Running Room Canada Inc., Egg Farmers of Canada, Canpar Transport L.P. and Revlon Canada.
