Public service announcement - Homecoming weekend activities by Canadian Grenadier Guards
MONTREAL, Sept. 28, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Grenadier Guards (CGG), will be opening its door to the public at its armoury at 4171 de l'Esplanade Avenue, corner Rachel to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its designation as a Regiment of Foot Guards ON Saturday, September 29th, 2012.
During the Homecoming weekend, the regiment will be open to the public 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event will be a great opportunity for Montrealers of all ages to learn about the regiment and its place in the city's history. Dedicated stands will provide information on the CGG's role in the War of 1812, the participation of its members in recent operations overseas, as well as its current training programme. Many serving and retired members of the Regiment will be on hand to answer any questions.
Also note that blank rounds will be fired at approximately 3 p.m. during a short ceremony at the Mont-Royal cemetery in honour of John Francis Young, the CGG's First World War recipient of the Victoria Cross.
