Can-Global REIT Income Fund Files Preliminary Prospectus
TORONTO, Sept. 24, 2012 /CNW/ - Middlefield Group, on behalf of Can-Global REIT Income Fund ("Can-Global" or the "Fund"), is pleased to announce that it has filed a preliminary prospectus in relation to an initial public offering of units at a price of $10.00 per unit.
Can-Global REIT Income Fund has been designed to provide investors with low-cost exposure to the global and Canadian real estate sector.
At least 30% and up 70% of the Fund's assets will be invested in an actively managed diversified portfolio of real estate securities, the majority of which operate in the Canadian real estate sector. The remainder of the Fund's assets will be invested in an equally-weighted passively managed diversified portfolio consisting of the equity securities of the 20 largest publicly-listed real estate investment trusts and other real estate related issuers by market capitalization globally. The initial portfolio will consist of real estate issuers with assets predominantly located in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong and Japan.
The Advisor believes that global REITs are attractively valued and well positioned to grow. The S&P Global REIT Index has delivered an annualized compound return of 10.6% during the past 10 years as at August 31, 2012.
The Fund's investment objectives are to:
(i) provide holders of units with stable monthly cash distributions, and
(ii) enhance long-term total return through capital appreciation of the Fund's investment portfolio,
through an investment strategy which is focused on the Canadian and global real estate sectors utilizing active and low-cost passive portfolio management.
Based on current estimates, the initial target distribution yield for the Fund is expected to be 6.5% per annum based on the original subscription price (or $0.05416 per unit per month or $0.65 per unit per annum).
Middlefield Capital Corporation will act as the investment advisor to the Fund.
The syndicate of agents is being co-led by CIBC and RBC Capital Markets and includes BMO Capital Markets, National Bank Financial Inc., Scotiabank, TD Securities Inc., Canaccord Genuity Corp., GMP Securities L.P., Macquarie Private Wealth Inc., Raymond James Ltd., Middlefield Capital Corporation, Dundee Securities Ltd. and Mackie Research Capital Corporation.
