Media Advisory - Scotiabank Nuit Blanche Independent Project : Concrete Canvases

TORONTO, Sept. 21, 2012 /CNW/ - As part of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, Street Art Showcase presents Concrete Canvases, a large scale, digital street art installation that examines how we write, explore and ultimately understand our city through the practice of 'urban inscription.'

WHAT:

The multi-dimensional project, presented by the Joe Fresh® brand and Stoneleigh Wines,
takes the audience on a 'first-person-view' tour of street art. As an introduction, viewers will
watch a video which includes the work of Sheppard Fairey, Mr. Brainwash and Max Zorn
integrated with art from the City of Toronto's "free" graffiti zone 'Queen West Alley.' A
collage featuring the work of many Toronto street artists including DN3 and Gary MacLeod
will also be on display to demonstrate the many different forms of the medium. Throughout
the night, two prominent local street artists, Uber5000 and André Castro Duarte, will be
live 'projection bombing' their work onto the Joe Fresh store façade at 589 Queen St West
to further immerse the public into the world of street art.  Finally, the audience will be able to
participate themselves by virtually inscribing personalized messages onto the wall.
