Minister of Consumer Services to Join Celebration of Five Outstanding Safety Leaders

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 20, 2012 /CNW/ - On September 26, a select group of individuals and organizations will be honoured with a 2012 Ontario Electrical Safety Award in recognition of their major contribution to the advancement of electrical safety.

The Electrical Safety Authority and Hon. Margarett Best, Minister of Consumer Services, will pay tribute to five distinguished recipients who have contributed to electrical safety in Ontario.

(including Hydro One, Office of the Fire Marshal, and Public Services Health & Safety Association)

  Consumer & Home Safety: Enersource Mississauga
 
  Special Award by the
Chief Public Safety Officer
Ewa Kozlowska, Toronto Transit Commission, for safely managing her bus and its passengers when powerlines fell on it

The Electrical Safety Authority
The Electrical Safety Authority's (ESA) role is to enhance public electrical safety in Ontario. As a delegated administrative authority acting on behalf of the Government of Ontario, ESA is responsible for administering specific regulations related to the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, the licensing of Electrical Contractors and Master Electricians, electricity distribution system safety, and electrical products safety. ESA works extensively with stakeholders throughout the province to educate, train, promote, and foster electrical safety.
