Shawn Desman and The Humane Society of Durham Region to bring shelter dog awareness to Yonge-Dundas Square
TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - The makers of PEDIGREE® are kicking off their fifth annual PEDIGREE ADOPTION DRIVE® campaign with a dog adoption awareness event in downtown Toronto to show Canadians that shelter dogs are good dogs and help raise awareness for the importance of adopting shelter dogs.
The PEDIGREE ADOPTION DRIVE® campaign launch event will be hosted by platinum selling, Juno Award-winning, Canadian pop icon and producer Shawn Desman along with representatives from The Humane Society of Durham Region on September 19, 2012 at Yonge-Dundas Square. Guests will be able to interact with local shelters dogs looking for their forever families as well as have the opportunity to receive FREE* dog items.
In addition to raising awareness for dog adoption, the makers of PEDIGREE® will also donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each bag of specially marked PEDIGREE® dry food for dogs, up to $150,000 CDN in 2012, to 30 partner animal shelters across Canada.

Since its inception in 2008 the PEDIGREE ADOPTION DRIVE® campaign has raised $875,000 CDN, and with the commitment to donate an additional maximum of $150,000 in 2012, the PEDIGREE ADOPTION DRIVE® campaign will have raised $1,025,000 CDN to help shelter dogs, in the care of shelters, find loving homes. The 30 PEDIGREE® partner shelters may use the donation for the items they require most in their own shelter, including medical needs, food, blankets, toys and operating expenses.
