BURLINGTON, ON, Sept. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - Soda lovers, rejoice! Canada's favourite pop is bringing new flavours to stores in their first-ever line of sleek, 355ml cans!
The PoP Shoppe today announced an exclusive partnership with Cott - the world's largest retailer brand beverage company- to launch the first-ever line of PoP Shoppe canned sodas. Cott will oversee production and distribution of the new cans across all Canadian markets, bringing the sodas to premium retailers like Sobeys and Loblaws.
Designed to complement their iconic glass bottles, The PoP Shoppe's retro-cool can line includes four additions to the PoP Shoppe's flavour lineup - Psychadelic Strawberry, Big Time Banana, Omazing Orange n' Cream and Got the Blues Raspberry. The cans are also available in four of PoP Shoppe's classic flavours, with a twist - Lime Ricky, Radical Root Beer, Groovin' Grape and Crazy Cream Soda.
"The PoP Shoppe has enjoyed a very successful return after a long absence, and we are thrilled that Cott is launching our can line," said CEO Brian Alger. "PoP Shoppe fans will appreciate the design of these cans, as well as enjoy the refreshing taste of our new flavours."
"We are thrilled to partner with such an iconic Canadian Brand, and to introduce an exciting, new range of PoP Shoppe products to a new generation of flavour-seeking Canadians," said Dave Stewart, general manager for Cott Canada.
Cott is the world's largest retailer brand beverage company. With approximately 4,000 employees, Cott operates soft drink, juice, water and other beverage bottling facilities in the United States, Canada the United Kingdom and Mexico.
The PoP Shoppe puts a smile on the faces of millions who remember their stores and sodas from the 70's and 80's through its "stubby" glass bottles and vast flavor offerings. The PoP Shoppe began in 1969, when two entrepreneurs sold soda at independent PoP Shoppe outlets. Customers returned their empty bottles in PoP Shoppe-branded crates for a refund, and then picked-up fresh bottles for their families. Over the next several years, PoP Shoppe was operating over 1000 stores in North America. In 2004, businessman Brian Alger purchased the trademark for his favorite childhood soda and today, it is Canada's top-selling premium soft drink.
