Libro Financial Group Recognizes Youth Leadership and Dedication to Community (CNW Group/Libro Financial Group)

- Libro announces recipients of the 2012 Community Builder Program -

LONDON, ON, Aug. 30, 2012 /CNW/ - Libro Financial Group recognized 25 youth at an awards ceremony, for their leadership and dedication to the community.  Ten students were awarded scholarships, and 15 were awarded grants, through Libro's Community Builder Program, which supports youth in developing career and leadership skills by participating in community development projects.

"Contributing to the communities we serve is important to Libro," said Rick Joyal, Chair, Libro Financial Group's Board of Directors.  "By supporting youth, through the Community Builder Program, the community becomes their focus, and together we all benefit."

Libro invests five per cent of its profit back into communities across southwestern Ontario each year through its Community Builder Program, which provides youth, up to the age of 25, an opportunity to develop leadership and career skills through participation in community development projects.  Since 2005, when the program first launched, Libro has distributed more than $2.4 million in grants, scholarships and sponsorships.

"Our program is providing exciting new opportunities for local youth," said Earl Morwood, Chair of Libro's Community Investment Advisory Panel. "We hope to help build confident youth and over time, more vibrant and prosperous communities."

Community Builder Grant Recipients
Libro awarded four Community Builder corporate grants, which are reviewed and evaluated by the Community Investment Advisory Panel; and eleven branch grants, which are approved by each owner-elected Libro Branch Council. In total, $484,139 was reinvested back to our communities this year.
