MONTREAL, Oct. 21 /CNW Telbec/ - Embrace Diversity or face the
consequences! Shortages in labour will result in slower economic growth and
Quebecers' standard of living further eroding in comparison to the rest of
Canada and the rest of North America.
That is the message of the First Annual Career and Diversity Forum to be
held in the Hotel Bonaventure in Montreal on October 22, 2007.
Unless Quebec businesses look to integrate diversity in hiring into their
business model, businesses will have incredible difficulty in finding enough
workers as the baby boomers retire. Women, visible minorities, the Lesbian Gay
and Transsexual (LGBT) communities, those over 55, those differently abled and
aboriginals are all the new frontier for human resources. Explore how to find
them, learn how to hire them and find out how to keep them in your company.
The First Annual Career and Diversity Forum is the first event of its
kind; it is an opportunity for dialogue between the business world and the
general public. Organized by G-FORCE (www.gforceinc.ca) with the support and
participation of KPMG, the Desjardins Group, the Government of Quebec and
other significant partners from the worlds of business, government and
education, the Forum is an opportunity for women, visible minorities, the LGBT
community, the differently abled, those over 55 and aboriginals to meet
business leaders. This Forum makes the case for Diversity in employment being
part of the key building blocks for sustainable economic growth in Quebec.
Two speaker's series running in parallel, one for professionals and one
for the general public will present opportunities for different diversity
groups to better understand the expectations of employer; expectations which
cannot be ignored. 50 of the best employers from across the country will be
exhibiting and looking to meet job seekers The Career and Diversity Forum is
an opportunity to learn and most certainly an opportunity to network.
In employment, it is skills that matter.
