WHEN: THURSDAY, AUGUST 9, 2012, 9 AM TO 2 PM
WHAT: More than 1,000 members of the Fung Loy Kok International Taoist Tai Chi Society—the largest nonprofit tai chi organization in the world, headquartered in Toronto—will gather on Yonge-Dundas Square for a visually stunning parade, demonstration, tand celebration of the Taoist Tai Chi™ internal arts of health.
  • Visiting dignitaries and members of parliament who will address the crowd (at 10 am), include:
    • Judy Sgro, MP (York West)
    • Joe McKinnon for Corneliu Chisu, MP (Pickering Scarborough E.)
    • Michael Chan, MPP (Markham), Minister of Tourism
    • Monte Kwinter, MPP (York Centre)
    • Mary Fragedakis, Councillor (City of Toronto, Danforth))
    • Chin Lee, Councillor (City of Toronto, Scarb-Rouge River)
    • Ms. Sandra Yeung-Racco, City of Vaughan Councillor
    • Martin Abell, representing MPP Tim Hudack (Leader of the Opposition, Ontario)
  • Parade of more than 1,000 members of the International Taoist Tai Chi Society (at 11:30 am)
  • Demonstration and introductory class of 108-move Taoist Tai Chi™ set, as practiced by more than 40,000 members in 27 countries around the world (starting at 9 am)
  • Dragon dance—not one but two dragons will dance, including the longest dragon in North America. (throughout the day)
