TORONTO, Aug. 6, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - Visually stunning dragon dances, tai chi demonstrations, and a festive parade will mark the 2012 Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi™ Awareness Day on Thursday, August 9, to be held in downtown Toronto's Yonge-Dundas Square starting at 9:00 am. A detailed schedule is available at http://www.taoist.org/awarenessday/.
The theme of this year's festivities is Renovate Your Body—Lift Your Spirit, which speaks to the unique mind-body health and healing benefits practitioners of this ancient internal art experience. As health reporter Jane Brody New York Times concluded in the New York Times, "After reviewing existing scientific evidence for its potential health benefits, I've concluded that the proper question to ask yourself may not be why you should practice tai chi, but why not."
Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi™ was founded by Master Moy Lin-shin in Toronto in 1970 to promote the health and spiritual benefits of Taoist Tai Chi™ internal arts. Today, more than 40,000 members in 27 countries around the world feel the benefits of the internal arts of health that he taught. Awareness Day coincides with an annual week-long international workshop at the Society's main campus in Orangeville, Ontario, in which more than 600 instructors and members from around the world participate.
More than an exercise club, Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi™ is a member organization whose aims and objectives are to make the Taoist Tai Chi™ internal arts available to all, to promote the health-improving qualities of these arts, to promote cultural exchange, and to help others. Members join the Society and are free to take any and as many classes as they would like at branches around the world. For more information, visit www.taoist.org or call (416) 656-2110.
