/R E P E A T -- Media Advisory/Photo Op - The Science of an Olympian: Meet Canadian Gold Medallists at the Ontario Science Centre/
TORONTO, July 24, 2012 /CNW/ - Ask any athlete how they'd define success. Most would say it takes equal parts determination, practice and talent. Science also plays a big role in becoming a world-class athlete, from physics to biology. This Friday, the Ontario Science Centre will host a special event featuring three-time Olympic Gold Medallists with the Canadian Women's Hockey Team, Jennifer Botterill and Jayna Hefford, and a future Paralympic hopeful with the Canadian Men's Sledge Hockey Team, Kevin Rempel. Visitors will hear firsthand about what it takes to become an Olympic athlete and feel the excitement of the Games. They can test their slap shots against the champions to see how they stack up and have the opportunity to get their photos taken with the athletes and their medals.
The event will take place in the Science Centre's newly-opened exhibition - SPORT - which features twelve interactive exhibits that explain the science of sports. Developed by the Ontario Science Centre, SPORT has toured science centres around the world and is open until January 2013.
