Canadian Grain Commission announces grading changes to eastern grains for 2012-13

WINNIPEG, June 29, 2012 /CNW/ - The Canadian Grain Commission announces the introduction of new food class of Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern that will come into effect on July 1, 2012.

At the same time, the hulless class for Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern will be removed. Hulless and covered grades will be included for all classes of barley: food, malting and general purpose.

Other grading changes that take effect July 1, 2012, include:

  • Revised Cleaning for Grade Improvement procedure for Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern
  • For Lentils, Canada Red:
    • New colour definition
    • New tolerances for copper and bleached seeds
    • New wrinkled seed tolerances
  • Revised heated tolerances in Canada Eastern Feed Wheat
