Agreement Reached at Great Blue Heron Charity Casino
TORONTO, Sept. 18 /CNW/ - The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino is pleased
to announce that it has reached a labour agreement between the casino and its
unionized staff who are represented by the CAW, Local 1090. A ratification
vote of the tentative agreement was held on Tuesday, September 18, 2007, when
its employees approved the agreement.
This new labour contract, which will not expire until August 31, 2011,
provides a four-year term and contains, amongst other items, increased wages,
benefits and advancement opportunities for all staff. Provisions of the
agreement also will enable the casino to continue its history of providing
excellent customer service, as well as allowing it to carry on with its
traditional role of being a significant economic mainstay and business partner
within the communities it serves.
"The long-term nature of this agreement signals a co-operative spirit
between the casino and its employees, and is reflective of the strong
commitment by everyone, to the continued success of our casino" remarked
Arnold Block, C.E.O. and General Manager.
The casino is open Tuesday September 18th, from 6pm to 2am, and will
re-open fully tomorrow, Wednesday September 19th at 4pm, commencing its normal
24 hours a day, seven days a week schedule.
The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino operates 545 slot machines and
60 table games. The casino is located just east of Port Perry less than one
hour Northeast of Metropolitan Toronto, and an easy 30-40 minute drive from
Ajax, Lindsay, Markham, Oshawa, Peterborough and Pickering.
