Cornwall man wins close to $271 thousand at OLG Casino Thousand Islands

Lady luck strikes three times for long distance truck driver

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON, Oct. 10 /CNW/ - Some might say that 50 year old
William Hill is quite lucky at games - which if the saying is true - might
mean he is not so lucky at love. But that's far from the truth. Hill will be
celebrating his 25th anniversary to sweetheart Wendy Thorpe in style this year
- after also celebrating his third big OLG win in the past year.
The first lucky break was a $100 thousand Millionaire Raffle prize shared
with a colleague. The second win was only two weeks ago - $20 thousand jackpot
at Slots at Rideau-Carlton. To top it all off, Hill took home $270,995.28
early Monday morning after hitting the Bally Wide Area Progressive Jackpot on
his weekly stop at OLG Casino Thousand Islands.
"Some people say I have incredible luck," offered Hill. "When I hit the
jackpot, I just sat down and waited. The staff at Thousand Island was way more
excited than me!"
Bally Wide Area Progressive slots are linked at all 22 OLG slots and
casino facilities across Ontario, and the jackpot grows based on the amount of
play at all locations.
"Every prize win is exciting, and big wins like this are special for our
customers," said OLG Thousand Islands Casino General Manager, Craig Betts.
"Exciting wins highlight what we're all about - providing gaming entertainment
for our customers while also generating important revenues for the province
and for our host communities."
To date, Leeds, Thousand Islands and Gananoque have equally shared more
than $20.8 million in non-tax gaming revenue generated by the casino. Since
opening, the facility has attracted more than 6.6 million visitors.

OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games
and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, Casinos, Slots, and Resort
Casinos have generated more than $23 billion for the benefit of the Province
of Ontario. Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport,
recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority
programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities
and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
