Media Alert: Two wines each valued at $20,000 up for bids at LCBO fine wine auction

WHAT: The two most expensive wines ever presented at auction in
Canada will go under the gavel at 6:30 p.m. Friday, October 12
at Ritchies New Gallery at 380 King Street East in Toronto at
the LCBO VINTAGES fine wine auction.
Two jeroboams (each equivalent to four standard 750 mL
bottles) of 1959 Domaine de la Romanee-Conti Richebourg, valued
from $20,000 to $25,000 apiece, will be up for bids. It's
expected the wines could sell for a much higher price. Proceeds
from the sale will go to benefit the Toronto Symphony
Orchestra.
Bidding for the two Richebourg wines will kick off the first
session of the auction. More than 2,500 lots of fine wines will
be presented at the four-day auction which runs until October
15 (1:00 p.m. start on Saturday and Sunday and 6:00 p.m. on
Monday).
Sales during the auction are expected to top the $3 million
mark. The auction is presented by LCBO VINTAGES in partnership
with Ritchies Auctioneers.
Consumers and collectors can taste many of the rare wines to be
offered at the auction at The Carlu at 444 Yonge Street in
Toronto on October 11 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tickets are
$300 and can be bought through VINTAGES Sales and Service
