Media Advisory - Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment staff team up for a Toque Street Blitz!

TORONTO, Nov. 26 /CNW/ - Rain or shine, 200 Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) employees will take to Toronto streets from 7:30 to 9 a.m. this Friday (November 27). Their goal: to sell 2,600 Raising the Roof toques to early-morning commuters, helping to "put a cap" on youth homelessness.

It is MLSE's largest ever single-day event to benefit a charitable cause. Employees will be stationed from York to Yonge and King to Front Streets, offering the public a warm toque in return for their donation of $10 or more. Proceeds from the MLSE toque sales will go directly to support solutions to youth homelessness here in Toronto.

"This is a terrific initiative that makes a difference for disadvantaged youth and supports our company value of being leaders in our community," said Tom Anselmi, executive vice-president and chief operating officer for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. "We're asking Torontonians to buy a cap from one of MLSE's 200 employees this Friday and support this worthwhile cause."

Over the course of a year, 65,000 youth across Canada are without a place to call home.
