Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Cinderella Brings Magic to Calgary Audiences

CALGARY, Nov. 9 /CNW/ - The great Moscow Ballet's anticipated 2009 tour has arrived, enamouring Calgary audiences with the brilliance of the Great Russian Cinderella, November 9 and 10.

With classical Russian-style and 42 local ballerinas, this production features principal dancers, Ekaterina Bortykova and Akzhol Mussahanov; and the soulful opening ballads of singer/songwriter/Canadian Idol finalist, Jenn Beaupre.

"If you are a ballet lover, then Russian-style is absolutely the perfect muse to admire ballet through," explains Stacey Tookey, acclaimed choreographer of So You Think You Can Dance Canada (and USA). "Russian ballet is unlike what most Canadian audiences are accustomed to seeing; the Moscow Ballet is renowned for its extraordinarily technical and challenging style."

Impressing audiences since 1993, this year's Moscow Ballet North American Tour is scheduled to amaze seventy cities in the United States and Canada, with two hundred costumes and folkloric backdrops lovingly designed and handcrafted in St. Petersburg.

Since 2007, Moscow Ballet's Canadian tour has sprinkled magic on Calgary-based drug and alcohol treatment centre, Recovery Acres Society. Proceeds from the tour are helping Recovery Acres raise $10 million in capital funding to build a second facility.
