Walmart Canada Unveils Top 10 Toys for the 2009 Holiday Season

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Today, Walmart Canada announced its much-anticipated top 10 toys for the 2009 holiday season and confirmed that it will drop prices on close to 200 toys between now and Christmas.

With special pricing already available on some of this season's hottest toys, Canadians have already started saving with Walmart's earliest-ever price drop on toys. Between now and November 20th, the retailer is featuring one of this season's hottest games, Monopoly City, at a special low price of $18.86 and the Transformer Deluxe series for $9.44.

Throughout the holiday season, Walmart will continue to offer the popular $10 toy promotion announced in September. Each week Walmart Canada stores nationwide will drop the price of select popular brand-name toys to $10. New toys will be reduced to $10 every week leading up to Christmas.

"Toys are the number-one gift idea for kids under 12 so we plan to offer deep discounts on popular brand-named toys over the weeks leading up to Christmas Day," said Don Cameron, Divisional Merchandise Manager for Walmart Canada. "Our customers count on us to be the price leader. This is a trust that we have built with our customers on every item we offer including the must-have holiday toys."

"Our customers tell us they start planning for Christmas as early as September, and begin shopping for gifts in early November. This year, Canadians have told us that they are making an extra effort to stay on budget, and are turning to Walmart as the store they trust to deliver great prices, great quality and great selection."
