Globacom Selects Acision to Provide Value Added Services in Ghana

Africacom - CAPE TOWN, South Africa, Nov. 18 /CNW/ - Acision, the world's
leading messaging company, announces today that Globacom, the fastest growing
telecom operator in Africa, has selected Acision to provide Value Added
Services (VAS) for Globacom's new mobile network in Ghana.
Currently one of the two biggest operators in Nigeria with over 20
million subscribers, Globacom is actively growing in West Africa through the
recent roll out of its network in Benin Republic and the acquisition of a new
operating license in Ghana. Glo Mobile Ghana is targeting market leadership
with an array of unique propositions when it launches in 2009.
The deployment of products including the Acision SMSC, Acision MMSC,
Acision Voicemail, Acision High Speed Proxy for mobile data services and
Acision Prepaid System, will allow Glo Mobile Ghana to provide compelling
value-added services in an increasingly competitive market.
Glo Mobile Ghana said Acision is operating a high performance system with
the capacity and flexibility to deliver new and differentiated communication
services. Acision whose local partner is African based TechFuture Limited, has
a wide range of experience that is ideal to meet Glo's pre-requisites.
"Acision is the obvious choice to partner with to replicate the success
we have already achieved in Nigeria as we expand into Ghana," said Mohamed
Jameel, Globacom's Group Chief Operating Officer. "Acision's innovation
matches our vision of building the biggest and the best telecommunications
network in Africa. We have established a pedigree for providing unparalleled
mobile services in any market where we operate. This agreement between us and
Acision is the start of a partnership that will enable Glo Mobile Ghana to
offer a differentiated service in the highly competitive Ghanaian market."
"With over 20 years experience in delivering innovative solutions,
Acision is the ideal partner for network start-ups and established operators
alike," said Richard Lowe, General Manager, Europe and Africa at Acision.
"Working with Glo Mobile Ghana is extremely exciting for us as it further
demonstrates Acision's commitment to enabling operators in emerging markets to
deliver advanced messaging services more traditionally associated with mature
markets. Globacom has ambitious expansion plans and we are pleased to be part
of the process in partnering with them to achieve their goal."
