Insurance Bureau of Canada teams up with the Rotary Club of Edmonton
Strathcona to combat impaired driving this holiday season
EDMONTON, Nov. 14 /CNW/ - Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), on behalf of
Canada's home, car and business insurers, is joining forces with Operation Red
Nose provincial host, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Strathcona, to get holiday
revelers - and their vehicles - home safely during the holiday season.
Operation Red Nose is a free designated-driver service that helps keep
roads safe. Last year, in Lethbridge and Edmonton alone, the program provided
1,835 safe rides home with the help of more than 1,360 dedicated volunteers.
This year, it has been expanded to include Cochrane and Fort Saskatchewan.
At a news conference to be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 18, Jim
Rivait, IBC Vice-President, Alberta and the North, will announce details of
the 2008 program. Special guests will include:
- Hon. Luke Ouellette, Minister of Transportation and MLA for
Innisfail - Sylvan Lake;
- Robert Anderson - Parliamentary Assistant to the Solicitor General
and Minister of Public Security and MLA for Airdrie Chestermere;
- Kathy Strawson, Operation Red Nose Edmonton Campaign Chair;
- Operation Red Nose mascot, Rudy.
The news conference will take place at the Boilermakers Hall, 15220 114th
Ave., Edmonton.
Photo Opp: Rudy and his special guests, Minister Ouellette and Mr.
Anderson, will arrive in front of Boilermarks Hall in a horse-drawn carriage.
